Roth, a former pharmaceuticals executive, died of injuries suffered last month in a cycling accident.

Duane Roth, the CONNECT CEO, 63, who suffered a serious head injury last month, died Saturday, and La Jolla and San Diego admirers began saluting him almost immediately.

One, Joe Panetta, president and CEO of BIOCOM, who said he valued Roth as a “friend, colleague and confidant,” added:

“the life science industry has lost one of its most devoted champions. Duane's passion for the industry first as a company executive (with Alliance Pharmaceutical) and later as CONNECT's President and CEO was unwavering. His contributions to San Diego are not limited to the life science industry, and his loss will be felt throughout our community.”
