A Clean Green Machine From Its Wheels to Its Meals

Green Truck is Patch's Bites Nearby pick of the week.

It’s a truck ... it’s a restaurant ... no, it’s ... a solar-powered food truck that serves organic food, runs on repurposed vegetable oil and shuns nonbiodegradable materials.

Green Truck sprouted in New York and Los Angeles and is now also part of the brigade of food trucks calling San Diego home. Serving food made from all organic produce and sustainably raised meats and working hard to be as little an environmental detriment as possible, Green Truck not only runs on vegetable oil produced from the cooking of yesterday’s meals, but also uses only biodegradable utensils and packaging, which are composted and returned to the farms that grow the ingredients its chefs use.

Green Truck was featured on the Oprah Women’s Network and made USA Today’s list of 10 great places to flag down a fabulous feast. Menu items range from very vegan to delicacies suited to a more omnivorous lot. For example, “no meaties” and “omnid” alike may opt for the Market Vegetable and Feta Wrap or Mother Trucker Vegan Burger while omnis alone gravitate to the Grilled Chicken Pesto Wrap or Wild Caught Mahi Taco.
