While the scenic home at 1660 Torrey Pines Road was listed for sale some 144 days ago, it was just Tuesday that the U-T San Diego pointed out the residence was owned by the late Harle Montgomery, a longtime La Jolla resident, philanthropist and former journalist.

The 6-bedroom, 7-bath house has views of La Jolla Cove. It has 5,500 square feet of living space, including two cottages, a guesthouse, detached three-car garage and another two-car attached garage.

The house even boasts special features like reclaimed doors and windows from the Hotel Del Coronado, columns from India and a hand-carved Nepalese door.

The house is as generous in size as Montgomery was generous in nature.

In Montgomery’s obituary in October 2010, the U-T said Montgomery was a generous supporter of the La Jolla Playhouse, the Salk Institute and the La Jolla Historical Society.

The property is listed for $11,995,000 to $13,500,000, according to listing agents Amber Anderson and Ross Whitney of Pacific Sotherby International Realty.
