SDPD Following Leads in Monday Night's Sexual Assault Near UCSD

The sexual assault occurred in a parking garage on the 5200 block of Fiore Terrace on Monday at 7:10 p.m.

Police continue to investigate an attempted sexual assault that occurred Monday evening on the 5200 block of Fiore Terrace.

San Diego Police said a female was approached by an armed male in an underground parking garage at 7:10 p.m. Det. Sgt. Mike Holden said the man grabbed and assaulted her. NBC 7 reported that the victim was a 23-year-old exchange student.

Holden said the assault stopped when a another resident entered the parking area from an elevator. The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.

"We are following leads as we talk," Holden told Patch Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect was described by as a Hispanic or Middle Eastern man with a thin build in his 20s. He was armed, possibly with a gun, according to police.
