You can take the girl out of Jersey, but you can't take the Jersey out of the girl, right? After spending six years living in upstate New York, Ariana Sheehan is back in her hometown of Kinnelon.
Ariana has seven years of professional journalism experience, having worked as a reporter and editor for both daily and weekly newspapers. As a reporter, she was responsible for covering municipal government, school districts, community features, countywide stories and local elections. She also covered New York State government exclusively for a government-themed weekly newspaper.
In 2008, a story Ariana had written uncovering a personnel issue that encouraged transparency in a school district won her a New York Press Association First Place Award.
Ariana also has experience working on "the other side," in public relations. In her free time, she enjoys taking her Puggle, Izzy, on walks.
Your Beliefs
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for them to inject their beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that their beliefs are on the record will cause them to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.
Politics
How would you describe your political beliefs?
Are you registered with a certain party?
I'm not yet registered in the state of New Jersey.
Religion
How religious would you consider yourself? (casual, observant, devout, non religious)
I consider myself casually religious. I am Jewish.
Local Hot-Button Issues
What do you think are the most important issues facing the community?
Where do you stand on each of these issues?
The most important issues facing this community, like any community, are those that affect the taxpayer. I want to know more about where the money goes when residents pay their tax bills and if the money our municipalities spend is proven to enhance our quality of life. I still have a lot to learn about these issues, but look forward to bringing the information to you shortly.
