Legoland, San Diego Zoo Safari Park Open New Exhibits in Time for Memorial Day Weekend

Grand opening celebrations are scheduled today for two major exhibits at San Diego theme parks, just in time for the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The $19.5 million Tull Family Tiger Trail at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park features a forested habitat with three yards for the park's six Sumatran tigers. The 5.2-acre exhibit includes rocks for climbing, ponds for swimming, deadwood trees to use as scratching posts and tall grasses for catnaps.

The trail is named for Thomas and Alba Tull, who donated $9 million for the project. Thomas Tull is best known for producing the "Dark Knight" films.

The Carlsbad theme park is bringing out star power for its grand opening celebration, with actresses Mayim Bialik, Gena Nolin and Anne Heche, and Padres players Seth Smith, Chase Headley, Cameron Maybin, Rene Rivera, Everth Cabrera, Huston Street and Ian Kennedy.
