Scripps Park has been transformed into a large party and fundraising venue for the San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation's annual Taste at the Cove. The San Diego Sports Medicine's fundraiser, with tickets for $3,000 to $5,000 for a table of 10, starts at 5:30 Thursday afternoon.
The San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation provides assists local athletes with limited financial means to recover from sports injuries. The SDSMF has seen hundreds of kids for free, including more than 100 MRI exams and approximately 50 surgeries. Other medical assistance has included preoperative treatment, postoperative care and bracing.
Last year's celebrity sightings included former Padres pitcher Trevor Hoffman and NBA All-Star Bill Walton.
