Ultherapy vs Thermage Showdown

This blog talks about the difference between two different lifting and tightening procedures, Ultherapy and Thermage.

We all have tried different creams and serums to help with our fine lines and wrinkles, but it’s just not cutting it. Yes, the creams and serums are great for maintenance! However, those products are not going to give you the lift and tightening that we hope for. Technologies such as Thermage and Ultherapy have taken off because of the effectiveness, but what is the difference between the two?

Thermage has been in the business for about 10-12 years whereas Ultherapy is still fairly new with about 2 years under their belt. Both procedures focus on lifting and tightening of the skin, but the methods used are different. Even though Ultherapy has been on the market for a shorter time compared to Thermage, the science behind the procedure and overall patient satisfaction makes this treatment far more superior.

Ultherapy is the only FDA approved medical device that works for both lifting and tightening of the skin and muscles for the face and neck. How Ultherapy works is through ultrasound technology that heats up deep inside the skin which stimulates and creates collagen. The entire treatment is non-surgical and will take about 90 minutes. Results will begin showing at 1 month and will gradually continue within a 3-6 month span.  Also, the best part of Ultherapy is there is no downtime.

Thermage uses radio frequency technology rather than ultrasound to heat up the skin, but penetrates superficially. In addition, the pain that comes along with the treatment has been said to be very high. Especially if patients feel great pain, they except great results but in this case satisfaction levels are low.

Ultherapy has been showcased on television shows such as Dr. Oz and Entertainment Tonight and magazines like Elle and US Weekly. Ultherapy works. It is the latest and greatest technology on the market for skin lifting and tightening. At The Secret Clinic we provide the ultimate experience. For any questions regarding the procedure or to book an appointment, we are always here for you.
