What Do You Actually Like About June Gloom?

There's got to be some silver lining to all those grey clouds, right?

June Gloom has many of us, well, gloomy.

While our morning dreariness is not a full case of seasonal affective disorder, it does have us day dreaming of sunny mornings followed by sunny afternoons and sunny evenings. In Southern California we are not happy unless we have clear skies from sunrise to sunset. But we are not here to complain; we want to stay positive.

What do you love about June Gloom?

On Twitter, La Jolla Blue Book said, “June Gloom is perfect weather for working out outdoors. Well at least for those of us that loath sweating in the heat.”

We are officially half way through June, let us know in the comment section below what you actually like about June Gloom.

As a runner, I agree that there's something especially nice about an overcast beach run. Not to mention there's less of a crowd to dodge. I also think this type of weather is perfect for curling up at a coffee house, and of course, napping if you have the luxury.

I like when the ocean water is just a few degrees warmer than the air temp. Makes you want to stay in all day.

When it's gloomy I don't feel like I'm missing as much if I need to stay in for a day or two and get some cleaning or work done. As a photographer the overcast sky can offer some nice diffused lighting for certain photo shoots so I don't have to be as concerned about squinting or pocket shadows.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, I feel right at home when it is cloudy. It makes me feel happy and content. I like that I don't have to shade my face and eyes; and clouds in the sky make for a little 'drama' in the atmosphere, and the day feels a little special. One day a sunshine loving lady walked in and was irritated by the clouds, when I told her that I liked them, and that they reminded me of home, she said "Well, then you can go back to where you came from....we have too many people here anyway!" Ouch.
