Bishop's School Grad Goes for Gold at Paralympics

The Olympics may have ended, but local athlete Roy Perkins will compete in the Paralympics that start Wednesday in London.

Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte made history in swimming, but there is another talented swimmer to look out for. graduate Roy Perkins will compete in the 2012 Paralympic games, which start Wednesday in London.

Perkins, who lives in Del Mar, already brought home a gold in the 50m butterfly and a bronze in the 100 freestyle in 2008, the same year he graduated high school. He holds several American records, according to the U.S. Olympic Committee, and was honored as the "Disabled Star of the Year" by the San Diego Hall of Champions in 2006.

He has his eye on the gold medal again this year. The Paralympics are not televised, but coverage is available online.
