With Playoffs on the Line, Chargers Hold Fan Appreciation Day

Just a key win this Sunday while two other teams lose and we're there.

The San Diego Chargers will hold Fan Appreciation Day at Sunday's regular-season finale against the Kansas City Chiefs at Qualcomm Stadium, with several hundred randomly selected fans receiving prizes.

The grand prizes are trips with the Chargers to games in Denver and Kansas City in the 2014 season.

Other prizes include pre-game and post-game field passes for Sunday's game, autographed jerseys and balls, a private dinner with general manager Tom Telesco at Donovan's Steak and Chop House, and VIP passes for next year's training camp.

A playoff berth could be on the line. If the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins both lose or tie in games beginning at 10 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, the Chargers (8-7) would advance to the playoffs for the first time since 2009 if they defeat Kansas City (11-4).

The Chargers defeated the Chiefs, 41-38, Nov. 24, in Kansas City.

Because of the size of the crowd, the Metropolitan Transit System will offer more frequent trains on the Green Line into Mission Valley. The special service will begin at 8:45 a.m., eastbound from Old Town, and 9:20 a.m., westbound from Santee.

The agency warned fans to leave for the stadium early, because trains closer to the kickoff time will be filled near capacity.
