A native of Tel Aviv, Israel, Motevassel defeated Tarango in last year’s singles final. A year earlier in 2010, Tarango had beaten Motevassel in the singles final.

A resident of the San Diego community of Rancho Bernardo, Nideffer played on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour from the late 1970s through late 1990s. A two-time Wimbledon singles quarterfinalist and a two-time French Open doubles champion, Nideffer achieved a career-high singles ranking of 15 in the world in 1990.

Nideffer is seeded second after top-seeded Dina McBride, a former college standout at the University of San Diego in the mid-1990s who reached last year’s singles final. Nideffer and McBride received first-round byes and will play their opening round matches on Tuesday.

“It’s going to be a very entertaining week of tennis,” said Conan Lorenzo, LJBTC Director of Tennis. “I encourage tennis fans who want to watch high-level tennis to come out and enjoy the matches.”

Matches will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 26 and at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27. The women’s singles final is scheduled for Saturday, December 1 and the men’s singles final will be played on Sunday, December 2.
