A Local's Guide to the Farmers Insurance Open

Get the 411 on the schedule, tickets, parking, traffic, spectator rules, who is competing and how to watch from home.

Come out to watch the top PGA professionals compete for $6 million in prize money at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course through Sunday. La Jolla Patch has the details on how to make the most out of your tournament experience.

Tickets: Tickets are $16 to $26 per day in advance and $21 to $32 per day at the gate. Youth 15 and younger are free when accompanied by an adult. A badge for the six-day tournament is $105. Military and their dependents receive free admittance with Military Photo ID. Ticket upgrades run $15 to $30 more and include access to hospitality tents. Ticket can be purchased online and printed out.

Parking:

  • Through Wednesday, attendees can park at the Torrey Pines Gliderport. After Wednesday, it will become permit parking only.
  • Both the Executive Drive and the Del Mar Show parking lots will be open to the public from Thursday through Sunday. The Executive Drive lot is located at 4747 Executive Drive.
  • If you purchase a parking permit online and have not picked it up, you can pick it up at Will Call.

Bike In: The bike "valet" area will be outside of the Farmers Insurance Open driving range, north of the bus shuttle drop off. Bike racks and security will be provided. For each fan who uses their bicycle and checks in with the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, the Farmers Insurance Open will donate $10 to the organization.

Traffic: Give yourself plenty of time to travel to and from the tournament. Traffic along North Torrey Pines Road and near the designated parking lots including the Gliderport and the Executive Drive lot will be heavy.

Spectator Rules: Don’t be surprised at the gate. Know the spectator rules before attending. Rules include no cameras or video cameras after Wednesday, all cellphone on silent and no bags larger than 6 inches by 6 inches. Get the full rules here.

Thursday, Jan. 26

  • Opening Ceremonies, 1st Tee South Course, starting at 7:30 a.m.
  • Opening Round of the 2012 Farmers Insurance Open, North and South Courses, starting at 8:30 a.m.

Friday, Jan. 27

  • Second Round of the Tournament, North and South Courses, starting at 8:30 a.m. 

Saturday, Jan. 28

  • Third Round of the Tournament, South Course, starting at 8:30 a.m.
  • Rock Ball, Century Club Pavilion, starting at 4:00 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 29

  • Final Round of the Tournament, South Course, starting at 8:30 a.m.
  • Awards Ceremony on the 18th Green

Stay at Home and Watch it on TV: CBS will show the Farmers Insurance Open on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 3:30 p.m.
