The Dream Ends for University City Junior All-Stars
Unbeaten San Clemente wins the South Sub-Division but UC is among the top four teams in SoCal.
The University City Little League Juniors All-Star team was eliminated from the Southern California playoffs by unbeaten San Clemente on Wednesday night in Riverside, losing 12-4. The teams were tied 4-4 in the fifth inning before San Clemente used a potent offense to pull away.
San Clemente will be the South Sub-Division representative in the best-two-of-three series in Riverside against North Sub-Division champion Encino. That winner advances to the Junior League (13- and 14-year-olds) Western Regional Aug. 2-9 in Aliso Viejo. The champion there heads to the Junior League World Series in Taylor, MI, from Aug. 14-20.
The UC team finished among the top four Junior teams in Southern California after winning the Section 6 tournament and the District 32 championship within San Diego County.
