The La Jolla Shores Surfing Association "gives back" by raising funds and awareness at annual surf contest.

Approximately 120 surfers, most of them under the age of 18, competed in the 11th annual Menehune Surf Contest which was held on April 16 at La Jolla Shores.

During the contest, the La Jolla Shores Surfing Association, which puts on the annual event, also held a silent auction and raffle. In the past, money raised through the auction and raffle have gone to important efforts such as improvement of the La Jolla Shores Park and to help support the drug abuse prevention organization, Natural High.

"What started as a small fundraising event has now evolved to a much bigger focus on supporting others and helping those in need," said Stephanie Hoffman, Contest Director.
