graduate Darian Yahyavi recently signed a letter of intent to play football at Murray State University.
Yahyavi will transfer from Saddleback College in Mission Viejo to the four-year university.
The 6 foot 1 defensive back played in all 11 games as a sophomore in 2011. His tallied up three interceptions, 10 pass break-ups, two fumble recoveries and 58 tackles last season. His efforts helped the team finish the 2011 season at 8-3.
The La Jolla native was selected as an All-National Southern Second Team player last year. He came to Saddleback from Arizona Western College, where he logged 22 tackles in nine games in 2009, according to records.
In high school he played football, basketball lacrosse and track and field. The 21-year-old biology major graduated from La Jolla High in 2009.
Jason Barrera, with Saddleback College’s athletic department, said the college had a record number of football players transfer to four-year schools this off-season.
