Former Charger Lew Bush Died

Former defender Lew Bush died of an apparent heart attack at the age of 42.

The Chargers announced on Thursday that popular former defender Lew Bush died of an apparent heart attack at the age of 42.

After he was drafted in the fourth round from Washington State University in 1993 and played linebacker in San Diego for seven seasons, with three more seasons in Kansas City.

He opened a restaurant in La Jolla, which has since closed, after his retirement and most recently was a commentator on the Chargers' pre-game radio show.

Bush is the seventh player from the Chargers 1995 Super Bowl team to die. The others were Rodney Culver, Dave Griggs, Shawn Lee, Chris Mims, Doug Miller and Curtis Whitley, according to the team.

Funeral arrangements were pending at announcement time.
