In Promised Land, surfers — representing a mix of different faiths — are able to connect through the sport, which opens up the conversation to more delicate matters like religion. The film, which takes place in Israel, shows how each individual develops a sincere interest in understanding the others’ beliefs and views in a respectful environment.
