Bishop's Knocks Out LJCD Twice; Viking Girls in Soccer Final

The Knights reach the CIF finals in boys hoops and girls soccer, while the La Jolla girls soccer team will face Coronado in Saturday's title match.

A 70-55 victory in boys basketball and a 3-0 shutout in girls soccer put the Bishop's School into two CIF Division IV finals this weekend, both at the expense of crosstown rival La Jolla Country Day.

The La Jolla High girls soccer team also reached the Division III championship game with a 5-0 blanking of Our Lady of Peace.

Dominique Love had 22 points for Bishop's, with Dominique Watkins adding 17. LJCD was led by Sage Burmeister, who had 22. The Knights (14-14), who had lost to the Torreys twice during the regular season, now will face Francis Parker (21-7), which beat Army-Navy 60-51 on Wednesday. The final will tip off at 11:15 a.m. Saturday at USD's Jenny Craig Pavilion.

In girls soccer, Bishop's was a 3-0 winner over Country Day behind goals from Lauren Collins, Gio Harvey and Randee Holman-Kelley. Devan Osegueda posted the shutout in goal. Top-seeded Bishop's (13-3) meets second-seeded Coronado (11-6-4) in Saturday's final at 4 p.m. at Cathedral Catholic.

Second-seeded La Jolla High (13-4-3) has won both its Division III girls soccer playoff games by 5-0 scores. Karly Zlatic had two goals against OLP, with Callan Parra, Elisa Brooks and Genna Bourgeois adding single scores. The Vikings meet top-seeded Cathedral Catholic (15-6-4) in Saturday's 7:45 p.m. final at Westview High.
