Bishop's Falls to 0-2 in Holiday Classic

The Knights will meet Carlsbad Thursday after a close loss to Paraclete.

Stephen Kaiser delivered 30 points and Dominique Love poured in 17, but it wasn't enough as The Bishop's School basketball team was edged out 65-63 by Paraclete High of Lancaster Tuesday in the loser's bracket of the Holiday Classic Mayor's Division.

Kaiser knocked down three 3-pointers and went 5-for-8 from the free-throw line. He also grabbed 10 rebounds and posted three assists in the loss. Love had seven rebounds and four steals.

The Knights trailed by 10 at halftime, but erased the deficit by outscoring Paraclete 23-13 in the third quarter. Bishop's took a brief lead midway through the fourth quarter, but couldn't hold on to it.

Paraclete was led by Gerard Rivers and Mike Van. Each scored 17 points. Van added 12 rebounds and two assists, while Rivers finished with seven rebounds and three steals.

Bishop's will have one more chance to get a victory in the tournament, as they will play winless Carlsbad Thursday at 10:45 a.m. at Westview High.
