6 La Jollans Ran at Boston Marathon, Site of Fatal Explosions, Many Injuries
Six La Jolla runners are listed as having finished the race.
Six La Jolla residents took part in the Boston Marathon on Monday, where explosions claimed the lives of three people and injured scores near the finish line.
According to the Boston Athletic Association site, the following Del Mar runners participated in the race:
- Matthew Brown, age 33, 03:07:56
- Brian Chow, age 22, 03:04:38
- Lyndsy Hassett, age 32, 03:43:39
- Sarah Linke, age 30, 03:12:54
- Richard Smith, age 50, 03:22:58
- Tara Wirtz, age 40, 04:11:53
These marks are “gun times,” but not the actual times from start to finish, since many thousands of entrants don’t reach the starting line until minutes after the gun goes off.
