2010 State Champ Bishop's Looks to Continue Success

The Knights will be anchored by a pair of seniors, QB Joey Moreno and WR/DB Dominique Love.

The Bishop's School football team, as defending state CIF Division IV champion, will have all of their opponents targeting the Knights this fall. Everyone wants to knock off the champs, who went 14-0.

But with a core of some seasoned veterans and some promising underclassmen working their way into the starting lineup, Bishop's should be in the thick of things in the battle for the Coastal League title.

"We're our own team and we have to set our own standards," said head coach Joel Allen, noting that the 2010 championship has no bearing on this season. "We're just a different team, and we're excited about the possibilities this season."

Captain and senior quarterback Joey Moreno will have a key target back, wide receiver (and defensive back) Dominique Love. The rushing game loses the Fisher twins, Alec and Austin, and will need someone to step up to complement Moreno's passing.

The Knights, who opened the season with a 35-20 win over View Park of Los Angeles, are off this week before visiting Monte Vista in Spring Valley on Sept. 16.
