7 Badass Business Women in San Diego: Leslee Schaffer

The woman at the forefront of design, culture, and art in San Diego is, hands down, Leslee Schaffer.  She has earned a deservedly reputable name with her previous work as the Executive Director of the San Diego Architectural Foundation. America’s finest city is not often the first place that comes to mind in regards to architectural design. Immediately we think of iconic locations that house the likes of the the Empire State Building, Golden Gate Bridge, or Sears Tower. Leslee’s work and ability to spot creative talent has allowed San Diego to also be a recognizable name in regards to architecture and culture.

While also consulting under her business, Full Circle Services for the San Diego Architectural Foundation, Leslee, now with a decade of event production under her belt, is taking her company FCS Productions to even greater heights.  She has produced some of the most influentially branded events in San Diego such as: Public Art Matters, PechaKucha Night, San Diego Design Film Festival, TEDx America's Finest City, Inside the Design Studio, and the Orchids & Onions.

Above all, Leslee is a true agent- bringing awareness to brilliant movements, landmarks, people, and events that need to be seen and shared. Her productions’ efforts share the powerful stories of creative minds in San Diego, from conception to realization, an artist in her own right. Now, with the addition of FCS Productions under her Full Circle Services moniker, Leslee recently produced and hosted, “25 Years of the Casbah: An Evening With Tim Mays and Friends” at San Diego’s historic North Park Theater;  a night of music and conversation with Casbah co-founder, impresario, and icon of the San Diego music scene, Tim Mays.

Leslee keeps her ear to the ground and responds to what San Diego needs, filling artistic voids and plugging in artists where she sees fit.  Leslee remarks that “San Diego doesn’t wear culture on its sleeve. We have the tendency to rely on its aesthetic beauty without investing in our cultural promise.” We can thank this attache for building a city with space for the arts.
