UCSD Receives $150,000 Software Donation

The software will be used for instructional and research purposes, according to company and school officials.

UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering received a $150,000 software donation from Power Analytics, the San Diego-based company announced Tuesday.

The donation includes licenses for the company's Paladin DesignBase modeling software, which is used to design and simulate electrical power infrastructure. According to company and school officials, the software will be used for instructional and research purposes.

“Engineering software has become very powerful in modeling in the real world,'' said Kan Kleissl, a UCSD professor of environmental engineering who plans to use the donation to continue researching solar radiation and how solar panels produce power.
