UCSD Is Delighted Janet Napolitano Will Serve as President of UC Schools

Napolitano, who has served as Secretary of Homeland Security since January 2009, will step down to lead the University of California.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will resign her post and to head the University of California system.

University of California's Office of the President reported that a committee  nominated Janet Napolitano to replace UC President Mark Yudof. And if approved by the full Board of Regents on July 18, 2013, Napolitano will lead a university system with 10 campuses, five medical centers, three affiliated national laboratories, and a statewide agriculture and natural resources program.
