Some 25,000 students have until May 1 to decide to attend UC San Diego in La Jolla.

UC San Diego announced Thursday that an all-time high of nearly 25,000 prospective freshmen have been admitted for the fall quarter.

The 24,792 students who got in have a combined grade-point average of 4.11, and the group is the most "ethnically, geographically and socioeconomically diverse class to date," according to a UCSD statement.

The students, many of whom will also be accepted elsewhere, have until May 1 to decide whether they will attend UCSD.
