The Clinton Global Initiative University continued Saturday with motivational and inspiring speeches by former President Bill Clinton, actor and activist Sean Penn, Chelsea Clinton and numerous other speakers.
The conference aims to inspire, educate and assist college students to address global issues with innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges including environmentalism, college affordability, LGBT issues, human rights, poverty, urbanization and efforts to reach at-risk youth.
Approximately 1100 students representing 349 schools from 90 countries and all 50 states are attending the three-day conference.
Clinton will work alongside actress and activist Drew Barrymore, Qualcomm Director Irwin Jacobs, actor and speaker J.R. Martinez and students at the San Diego Food Bank on Sunday morning.
In the past six years, the Clinton Global Initiative has secured more than $1.3 million; reached more than 74,000 students and faculty with educational efforts and outreach about clean energy and sustainability; and placed more than 3,800 new recycling containers on college campuses and throughout neighboring communities.
