Robert J Wagner joins La Jolla Country Day School’s Visual and Performing Arts Department as the Middle School Drama, Dance and Musical Theatre Teacher, Upper School Dance, and Musical Theatre Teacher, and Glee Club Co-Director, under the direction of Barbara Weinstein, Director of Visual and Performing Arts.
Prior to working with LJCDS, Robert worked at the The Swain School in Allentown, Pennsylvania as the Director of Theatre Arts. He also served as Manager of Education and Outreach for Muhlenberg College’s Summer Music Theatre. Robert is an actor, dancer, singer, choreographer, and director.
Before working with The Swain School, Robert was an actor in the national tour of The Velveteen Rabbit with Philadelphia’s Enchantment Theatre Company. He was most recently seen on stage performing as Laurie in Little Women. Currently, he serves as a board member for The Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed, Inc. He loves working with this organization because he believes that theatre is not just important for its own sake, but can be used as a tool for transformation within our own lives.
Robert received his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Dance from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. While at Muhlenberg, he spent time at Goldsmith’s College in London, England studying physical theatre.
In his spare time, he enjoys working with LGBT youth, performing on stage, watching movies, cooking, and running.
