Retired Rear Adm. Ronne Froman said, "with the need for greater access to affordable higher education, we felt compelled to support this vital initiative." Froman will co-chair a fundraiser in October.

National University announced Wednesday an initiative to raise funds for a newly established scholarship to benefit military veterans.

To spearhead the fundraising campaign for the Veterans' Victory Scholarship, retired Rear Adm. Ronne Froman and Linden Blue, vice chairman of General Atomics, will co-chair the university's inaugural dinner in October, themed “Visionary Voices, A Tribute to Our Veterans.”

In 2010, National University founded the Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success to increase student retention, guide veteran students to educational and career goals and improve their quality of life. The university has nine on-base learning centers in San Diego.

In 2003, the university received the Ray Ehrensberger Award for Excellence in Military Education.
