LJCDS Grad's Foot Race to Break News of DOMA Decision Goes Viral

A video of Dan Stein, an intern with SCOTUSblog, running to deliver the Supreme Court's decision on the Defense of Marriage Act has legs online.

NBC correspondent Pete Williams broke the news about the Supreme Court's decision on gay marriage on Wednesday with the help of a local man. La Jolla Country Day School grad Dan Stein, an intern with an NBC partner, literally ran the decision to Williams from the Supreme Court.

Stein, a 2010 grad from LJCDS, was caught on video earlier this week rushing another decision to Williams. That short video was captured by Daniel Wein, who posted it to Vine (see here).

“I think he was just trying to get the opinion out as soon as possible. It’s quite obvious that by the speed that everyone is going, they’re not very familiar with what’s in the document,” Wein said in a TODAY show interview. “They just know they need to get it to their network as soon as possible.”

Stein, who is attending Yale, was interviewed on the TODAY show this morning. Watch Stein talk about the honor of delivering this decision and elbowing out the CNN intern to be first. (Watch video above.)

The TODAY show put Stein to the test and had him run reports as well.
