UN official to speak

Heraldo Muñoz Valenzuela will speak about his book "The Dictator's Shadow: Life Under Augusto Pinochet," at the Institute of the Americas, in the Weaver Conference Center on campus.

Munoz was appointed by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in March 2010 to the position of assistant secretary-general and assistant administrator and director of the regional bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Dr. Muñoz has written and edited more than a dozen books on Inter-American relations and security, Latin American foreign relations, democracy and human rights, multilateral affairs, development issues and international political economy.

Cost: Free, but pre-registration is requested.
