Don’t Be a Silly Goose, Give the Magic of Dr. Seuss

The Grinch may have stolen Christmas, but you can steal it back with these whimsical Dr. Seuss gifts.

La Jolla Patch brings you the top 10 La Jolla-themed gifts for the holidays. Yesterday we featured and today we have something more whimsical.

ties to the UC San Diego abound. The is named after the poet and author. The Dr. Seuss Collection is housed in the library’s gallery. And this holiday season, the UCSD bookstore is offering a wide selection of “Seussical” toys and games.

Bestsellers include plush dolls of the Grinch, Max the reindeer, Cat in the Hat and Horton the elephant, which come in various sizes. The store also has Dr. Seuss ornaments. Our favorite is Cindy Lou Who, with her glittery red bow.

Another gift option is the Dr. Seuss board games, based on the best-selling books, and crafted with the author’s signature message of learning. Games include the Green Eggs and Ham Speedy Diner Game and I Can Do That (based on Cat in the Hat). Our pick is the game version of Oh, the Places You’ll Go, which asks would-you-rather questions and stimulates interesting discussions about the future. For example, “Would you like to: A) lead an expedition to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, or B) deliver the valedictorian speech at your Ivy League graduation?”

These gifts will melt even the Grinch-iest of hearts. Just think of little Cindy Lou Who, who saw sweetness in the Grinch when no one else could. After all, isn’t that what the magic of Christmas is about?
