Celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday in La Jolla

UC San Diego will host a big birthday party for Dr. Seuss’ 108th birthday on March 2; the same day as the release of the film "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax."

Get out your striped Cat in the Hat hat and Lorax moustache; is throwing a party. The university is hosting the annual birthday celebration for Theodor Seuss Geisel, also known a Dr. Seuss.

The party coincides with the release of Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, an animated film which features Taylor Swift, Zac Efron, and Danny DeVito.

The birthday extravanganza is open to all Dr. Seuss fans, both students and neighbors. It will be held at 11:50 a.m., Friday at the foot of the Library Walk in front of Geisel Library, named for Dr. Seuss’ wife Audrey.

The celebration will include a giant inflatable Cat in the Hat, cake, and music by The Teeny Tiny Pit Orchestra. In addition, an exhibit of Dr. Seuss materials from the Dr. Seuss Collection will be on display through March 9 at Geisel Library. The Library holds the largest collection of original Dr. Seuss works. Approximately 10,000 items are in the collection.

Over the past few year, as a new dad, I've read every Dr. Seuss book. I love reading them as much as my daughter loves hearing me read them. Dr. Seuss is brilliant. Looks like a great event for all ages.
