Students in Wyman’s Teen Outreach Program (TOP) at took their latest community service project to the streets of the Loop Thursday.
This group of seventh grade students decided that they wanted to change the public perception of teens in the Delmar Loop.
The students in Wyman’s TOP stood in front of four storefronts in the Loop, advocating for causes the stores find important. The following topics were advocated:
- : Arts Education Awareness
- : Fair Trade
- : Healthy Nutrition
- : Stop Teen Violence.
Wyman’s TOP program is used by schools, communities and youth practitioners to empower teens to lead successful lives and build strong communities. TOP is a nationally recognized program that delivers real results. Young people who take part in TOP have a 60 percent lower risk of school dropout, a 53 percent lower risk of teen pregnancy and other impressive results.
St. Louis-based Wyman Center has been helping teens build healthy behaviors, life skills and a sense of purpose for more than 100 years.
