Diabetes Association Will Host `Step Out’ this Sunday Morning at De Anza Cove, Mission Bay

Chances are you know someone who has been affected by diabetes. “Step Out” and make a positive impact in the lives of those affected by diabetes.

The American Diabetes Association’s San Diego chapter will host Step Out, Walk to Stop Diabetes, a fundraising walk, on Sunday morning, Oct. 28, at De Anza Cove in San Diego’s Mission Bay area. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., and the three-mile walk begins at 9 a.m. Event information is available at diabetes.org/StepOutSanDiego. On-site registration will be available.

About 900 walkers are expected to participate and raise about $160,000 in donations for diabetes research. More than 130 teams are expected to walk, including teams representing businesses, neighborhoods, clubs, community groups, churches and family members affected by diabetes.

Admission to attend Step Out is free. There is no cost to be a walker. Prizes can be earned by those walkers who raise the highest donation dollar amounts. Monies raised at Step Out will benefit the American Diabetes Association’s ongoing effort to serve local families affected by diabetes. Funds raised also will help support research to find a cure.

Among the top fundraising local corporate teams: LPL Financial, GreatCall Inc., San Diego County Optometric Society, Veterans Memorial Research Foundation, Moss Adams CPA LLP, Rancho Bernardo Lions Club and Walgreens.

Local sponsors include A-1 Self Storage, Geico Insurance, Shire Regenerative Medicine, Rancho Bernardo Lions Club, Profil Institute for Clinical Research, Good Neighbor Pharmacy, Cubic Corp. and Sanofi.
