You'll Want to Hold it for These New Toilets at La Jolla Shores

Crews started work on the existing Kellogg Park North comfort station and restrooms this week.

The comfort station at Kellogg Park North is about to get a bit more comfortable. The Friends of La Jolla Shores hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the new comfort station (restroom facility) on Monday and the project is expected to be completed by summer.

Crews will level the existing restroom facility and build a new structure that looks similar to the La Jolla Shores lifeguard facility, but with the layout of the comfort station to the south. Portable toilets and the Kellogg Park south facility will be available to beachgoers in the meanwhile.

Funding for the design and construction of the facility was the John G. Watson Foundation. Watson, who passed away in June 2010 and was the past chairman of the Tech Coast Angels, lived in the Shores and was a frequent user of the beach. The cost is an estimated $500,000.
