Where to Vote on Campus

Participation at the ballot box from young voters has been steadily increasing in both midterm and presidential elections in the past few years. More and more young voters are exercising their right to vote.

At UC San Diego there are 1,261 registered voters living on campus, according to the county Registrar of Voters. The number of registered voters living on campus including graduate and undergraduate students is 11 percent of the total number of individuals living on campus. Many students that live on campus are registered in their hometowns.

UC San Diego student led nonpartisan voter registration drives on campus from the start of fall quarter until the Oct. 18 deadline. Some 2,000 students, both on campus and commuter, registered to vote through the drive, according to university officials. Michael Lam, the Associated Students' vice president of external affairs, spearheaded the voter registration efforts.

"It's important for students to vote in this election because California's elected officials play a critical role in funding public education," Lam said. "We're working hard so students can let their voice be heard because these elections directly impact access to higher education."

UC students living on campus and registered with their UC San Diego address can vote at one of the three polling places. The location of your polling place is printed on the back of your sample ballot and voter information pamphlet. Don't worry if you lost your sample ballot. You can look up your polling location by plugging in your address at the Registrar of Voters' website or by calling 858-565-5800.

Polling locations consist of Precinct 120040 and 120050 at UC San Diego Price Center's East Ballroom, Precinct 120041 at Half Dome Lounge at Muir College and Precinct 120070 at Warren College-Student Activity Center, Canyon View Rd.
