Virtual Town Hall Questions for John L. Subka

Subka: Americans need to throw out their existing politicians who have created this mess and elect new people to Capitol Hill.

Patch sent questionnaires to the candidates running in the 52nd Congressional District. The primary election is on Tuesday.

Patch: I’m a 37-year-old public school teacher, and every year I fear losing my job. Why should I vote for you?

John L. Subka: The schools need to down size their management, and increase their teaching staff. In essence they have become top-heavy! This will require a massive re-org. Throwing more money at the current problem is not going to fix anything. The school system needs to be overhauled!

Patch: I’m 26 and camped for weeks at Occupy San Diego, protesting a tax system that gives the rich huge breaks. Why should I vote for you?

Subka: The problem is not taxing the rich. I believe the rich should pay taxes like anyone else. However simply only taxing the rich will not be enough to take care of the problems we are facing. We need to get Americans back to work at decent salaries. Companies need to stop off-shoring jobs and immediately doing an about-face and selling their products back in the U.S.  THIS IS WRONG AND NEEDS TO STOP!

Patch: I’m 68 and can’t believe how Obama is moving this country toward a Socialist state.  Why should I vote for you?

Subka: Obama has not provided any solutions, and unfortunately neither have the Republicans. Even if you disagree with Obama, what have the Republicans done in the past four years? Nothing! Americans need to throw out their existing politicians who have created this mess and elect new people to Capitol Hill. I can not make any promises but at least it will be a start!

Patch: I’m 45 and have been out of work for 14 months. I’m well-educated, but employers won’t even let me in the door.  Why should I vote for you?

Subka: Unemployment is at a 60 year high! Companies are bringing over cheap labor from India/China on Federal H1-Visas approved by your Congress! These policies serve to replace American jobs at a cheaper rate. Then put the middle class on Permanent Unemployment at the cost of the States.  I would propose a bill to suspend all the H1-Visa Program for 10 years. Companies would then have to hire Americans if they wanted to continue business in the U.S. If they decided to offshore the jobs, then turn around and sell their products back in the U.S., I would propose a 100 percent Tariff Bill on the profits of the product. This practice simply needs to stop!

Patch: I’m 18 and getting into the state university system is harder than ever—and more expensive.  Why should I vote for you?

Subka: Companies today have no incentive to hire a college graduate in the U.S. if they can bring over someone from a foreign country with the same education and pay them 1/3 the price. Again, I would propose a bill to suspend all the H1-Visa Program for 10 years. What they don’t tell you is that 13 years ago Fortune 500 Companies employed over 20 million Americans. Today that number is below 10 million. If nothing is done soon, 10 years from now we will be hitting rock bottom!

Patch: I’m 81, and my grandchildren are joining the Navy. I fear another needless war will take them away. Why should I vote for you?

Subka: I personally feel that the military has been used to facilitate the failure of U.S. foreign policy. A prime example is IRAQ, over 3,000 Americans died in the war. Now the war is over, and what does America have to show for it? Nothing except 3,000 dead people, and another 1 Trillion in Debt!  In addition, after the war was over, Iraq signed agreements with China and is in the process of setting up multiple oil pipe lines directly to China. So Americans in the war really died to provide China with oil, and give Generation X more Federal Debt! If it were up to me I would rather have the Military defend its own country down at the border, and help establish new infrastructure across the nation with The Army Core of Engineers. Why are we putting up new schools in Iraq when our schools at home are falling apart at home?

Patch: I’m 35 and see nothing happening in Sacramento or Washington to solve my problems. All I see are the extreme wings of both parties blaming each other and getting nothing done. Why should I vote for you?

Subka: I could not agree with you more. I personally spoke with a Congressman a few years ago and after listening to him I realized it is not a matter of whether I agreed with him on topics like federal spending, abortion, gun control, etc. Why? Because if I agreed with him or not, nothing was going to get done! In essence Congress has become dysfunctional with the people it has today. Americans like yourself need to vote out the incumbents today and get new people in Congress who are will to take a chance rather sit in Washington and do nothing
