Subaru Showroom May be Coming to Temecula Dealership

John Hine Mazda of Temecula is seeking city approval to construct a 2,040-square-foot Subaru showroom on the grounds of its existing dealership located off of Ynez Road.

City of Temecula staff are recommending approval of a new Subaru showroom being proposed by John Hine Mazda.

The dealership has submitted an application to build a 2,040-square-foot sales building on the grounds of the , according to a report prepared for the Temecula Planning Commission.

The John Hine Subaru showroom would be used for sales purposes, and would employ about seven people, according to the application.

Vehicle servicing would still take place in the existing Mazda service center, the application states.

City staff have reviewed the plans and ruled the project meets environmental guidelines. The next step is a public hearing before the Planning Commission, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Temecula Civic Center.

John Hine Mazda and a handful of other auto dealerships are among 25 businesses that bring the most in sales tax revenue to the city, Patch previously reported.

Third quarter point-of-sale receipts for fiscal year 2012-13 second quarter (April though June) showed revenue of just over $6.4 million to the city, according to Diamond Bar-based HdL Companies, with nearly $1.4 million coming from auto dealerships.
