San Diego Taxpayers Have One Extra Day to Pay Property Taxes

The tax payment is now due April 11 because the 10th falls on Sunday this year.

San Diego County taxpayers have one extra day to pay their property taxes this year, it was announced Monday.

The tax payment is now due April 11 because the 10th falls on Sunday this year, Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister said. Payments received after April 11th will be assessed a $10 fee and a 10 percent penalty.

McAllister said tax bills were mailed to 983,329 San Diego County residents last September, and 561,356 remain unpaid, totaling $1.5 billion. He expects property taxes to generate $4.45 billion.

"We can expect a busy week at the Tax Collectors Office because we have more than 50 percent left of the second installment to collect. We are prepared and ready to serve our taxpayers,'' McAllister said.

Tax collector branch offices in San Diego, Chula Vista, San Marcos, El Cajon and Kearny Mesa will offer extended hours next Monday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and drop boxes will be available over the weekend.Payments can also be made by calling 877-829-4732, or online at Sdtreastax.com.
