San Diego's CFO Resigns

Mary Lewis will leave her post to join the San Diego City Employees Retirement System.

The city of San Diego's chief financial officer is leaving her post to take a similar position with the San Diego City Employees Retirement System, the mayor's office announced today.

The departure of Mary Lewis comes as city officials are preparing their budgets for the next fiscal year, which begins on July 1. The mayor's office typically reveals its spending plan in the middle of April.

“Mary has been instrumental in our efforts to increase accountability and oversight and restore the city's reputation on Wall Street and eliminate the longstanding structural deficit,” Mayor Jerry Sanders said. “She was a key player in every financial reform we've accomplished during my administration, and we'll miss her greatly.”
