City Council Declares July LGBT Pride Month

The declaration was made just days before the San Diego Pride Parade and Festival scheduled for July 16 and 17.

City Council unanimously proclaimed July to be Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month in San Diego. The declaration came just days before the annual San Diego LGBT Pride Parade and Festival.

Councilmen Carl DeMaio and Todd Gloria, two openly gay members on the eight-person council, presented the presentation at Tuesday’s City Council meeting downtown.

“There was a time when this proclamation couldn’t get every council member’s signature,” said DeMaio.
