Ready for Summer Traffic; Roadwork Complete on Torrey Pines Road

The roadwork on Torrey Pines Road earlier this month caused massive traffic backups and delays.

Editor's Note: San Diego City Councilwoman Sherri Lightner released the following community update in her monthly newsletter released Tuesday afternoon.

Work was recently completed on new storm drain diversions along Torrey Pines Road near Princess Street, Amalfi Street and Coast Walk.

The project was funded through a state grant and will help prevent ocean pollution by diverting dry weather storm water runoff to the sewer system instead of allowing it to enter the ocean in the protected

Area of Special Biological Significance off La Jolla Cove and La Jolla Shores.

After the project was completed, the city resurfaced the section of Torrey Pines Road from Princess Street to Coast Walk.

As part of the project, the city was able to improve the bike lanes and reconfigure the travel lanes to help improve traffic safety along this busy stretch of road.
