Several hundred visitors attended a Memorial Day ceremony at Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial on Monday.

The ceremony focused on remembering and thanking members of the military.

In addition, the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Color Guard presented colors. David Dickey, the 2012 San Diego County Veteran of the Year, led the Pledge of Allegiance. The MCRD Rifle Team conducted a 21-gun salute. San Diego Opera soloist Vincent Martin sang the Star Spangled Banner. Chaplain Darcy Lovgren Pavich, of the Veterans Village of San Diego, provided the invocation. The Navy Band Southwest Brass Quintet played. And Army Maj. Gen. Frederick "Ben" Hodges served as the keynote speaker.
