Though all the votes have not been tallied, Scott Peters holds a strong lead over his Democratic opponent in the 52nd Congressional District race against incumbent Rep. Brian Bilbray in November, according to a Tuesday report.
The North County Times said that Peters holds an 803-vote advantage over Lori Saldaña, a fellow Democrat. That .
Bilbray is a Republican. Peters is a former San Diego City Council president and Saldaña is a former state Assemblywoman.
The report also noted that the county Registrar of Voters said that 18,000 ballots remain to be counted throughout the region, but only a fraction of them remain for communities in the 52nd district.
The re-drawn district includes Coronado, La Jolla, Rancho Bernardo and Poway, among other local cities and communities.
