Peters Blames Tea Party for Government Shutdown

A list of federal government services and agencies affected by the shutdown is posted on Rep. Peters' official website.

Rep. Scott Peters said the federal government shut down at midnight Monday because Republicans "allowed the Tea Party faction to rule and win the day."

"I am extremely disappointed that the majority party and its leadership would shut down the government for any amount of time," said the Democrat from La Jolla. "It is unacceptable; real people and families count on many of the services the federal government provides.

"Over the next few days I will continue to meet with those of my colleagues who are willing to work for solutions; reasonable people can disagree, but in the end, we have a job to do, and I continue to believe that if we don't pass a budget, we shouldn't get paid."

Peters said a list of federal government services and agencies affected by the shutdown can be found on his website, or by calling either of his offices.
