Lightner's Four-Year Plan (Video)
Incumbent Sherri Lightner 54 percent of the vote Tuesday for San Diego City Council District 1, which includes La Jolla, University City, Torrey Pines, Torrey Hills, Carmel Valley and Del Mar Mesa.
Sherri Lightner retained her San Diego City Council seat in the northwestern part of San Diego by defeating businessman and philanthropist Ray Ellis. Lightner captured 54.18 percent of the vote or 21,814 votes over Ellis' 18,449
The election was for the only City Council seat that went to a November runoff.
