Last Chance: The Dalai Lama and Taxes

There are some things you don't want to forget and deadlines are looming. Let Last Chance be your guide.

This week is your last chance to pay property taxes and win tickets to see the Dalai Lama speak in San Diego. While most of us would rather see His Holiness rather than pay taxes, we have information on both.

County Property Tax Deadline Is Here

The second installment of property taxes is due April 10. Five county offices will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays to accommodate late filers.

Win Two Tickets To See the Dalai Lama

Tickets for the Dalai Lama’s appearance at UC San Diego on April 18 were gone within hours, but Patch is conducting a photo contest that ends on Friday morning, with two tickets as the grand prize. The Tibetan spiritual leader will be talking about global warming, climate change and its effects on humans and the economy. Here’s how you can win the tickets: Take a photo of yourself incorporating environmentally conscious practices in your everyday life. That can be anything from shopping with a reusable grocery bag, composting in your back yard, or rolling up your sleeves for a beach cleanup. Short videos will be accepted, too.
