Two members of the body that runs the Del Mar Fairgrounds were reappointed by Gov. Jerry Brown Wednesday, while an Escondido woman was tabbed for her first term on the panel.
Reappointed to the 22nd District Agricultural Association, San Diego County Fair Board of Directors, were Lisa Barkett of La Jolla and Frederick Schenk of San Diego.
Barkett, 55, has served on the board since 2011. The former vice president of Merjan Financial Corp. is also a member of the University of Southern California Board of Trustees and the Rady Children's Hospital Board of Trustees.
Schenk, 60, has served on the board for three years and is currently the chairman. He's a partner at the law firm of Casey Gerry Schenk Francavilla Blatt and Penfield.
The new appointee is 55-year-old Kathlyn Mead. Until recently, she was the executive vice president and chief operations officer at the California Endowment.
Before that, she was president and CEO at the Council of Community Clinics, vice president at Blue Shield of California, president and CEO of Sharp Health Plan, and vice president at Rady Children's Hospital.
All three are Democrats. The positions do not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation.
