Development Permit Review Committee Hears School Expansion Proposal

La Jolla Development panel will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the La Jolla Recreation Center.

The La Jolla Development Permit Review Committee will review four projects on Tuesday at the La Jolla Recreation Center. Projects include construction of new single-family residents and a proposed business expansion.

Agenda Items:

  • The applicant proposes to demolish an existing resident at 961 La Jolla Rancho Rd. and construct a new 6,796-square-foot single-family house with attached three-car garage on an 18,100-square-foot lot. The project was previously approved by the city in June 2008.
  • proposed to expand its school at 1012 Prospect St. into a neighboring commercial space at 1010 Prospect St. The number of students would increase from 65 to 312 and the employees would increase from 10 to 36. The space was previously used as an office.
  • The applicant proposes to demolish an existing resident at 9882 La Jolla Farms Rd. and construct a new 10,759-square-foot single-family and companion unit on a 2.37-acre lot. The Salk Institute is to the North of this lot. The property also neighbors a trail used by surfers.
  • The La Jolla Development Permit Review Committee will also hear a preliminary review of a proposal by restaurant at 7834 Herschel Ave. The restaurant seeks a 151-square-feet sidewalk café.
